The church was built in the 11th century. It underwent several later alterations and extensions, including the addition of side chapels and a sacristy in the 18th century. A cemetery borders it to the south.
It houses a set of canvases constituting the decoration of Holy Week called "monument" in Catalan. This type of installation was set up every year for the celebration of Holy Thursday in many villages of Roussillon and Catalonia from the beginning of the 1950th century until the XNUMXs. The Prats Balaguer monument is the only one permanently installed in a church. Although it no longer has a function in the current liturgy, it is a witness to a particular cultural practice, ancient and almost completely forgotten. It is the only monument in the Pyrénées Orientales department to have preserved almost all of the elements composing it.
