CONFLENT WALKS: “VISIT TO THE ABBEY OF SAINT-MICHEL-DE-CUXA”

I will accompany you to the heart of the Romanesque Catalan country, discover the Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa, a major place of pilgrimage, an exceptional architectural ensemble (10th - 12th centuries) with one of the largest pre-Romanesque churches in Europe , its Lombard Romanesque bell tower, its crypt and its cloister, the first work of Romanesque art in Roussillon, part of which is exhibited in New York. I will also introduce you to Abbot Oliba, who promoted "The Truce of God" against feudal violence and still influences our everyday habits.
