Our Specialties from Vallespir Canigó

Meats from the Pyrenees

Our local breeders produce quality meats, produced locally, which makes our region renowned for the quality of its products.

  • Appellation Pyrenees dew : This label guarantees veal raised freely in the pastures of the Pyrenees. Pyrenees dew is known for being very tender and for its delicate taste. The animals feed mainly on mother's milk and mountain grass, which is why their meat has a unique flavor.
  • El Xai : Le Xai, or Catalan lamb, is a popular local specialty. Indeed, the lamb grows in the Pyrenees mountains, offering tender and tasty meat, often served roasted or as chops. Its subtle taste makes it a staple on local tables.
  • The Pig El Tirabuixó : This is a breed of pig typical of the Pyrenees. Generally raised outdoors, this breed is distinguished by the quality of its meat. The Tirabuixó stands out for its tasty meat, used for various preparations, for example roasts, sausages or even ham.
Le territoire du Vallespir Canigó est aussi réputé pour ses viandes de qualité, produites localement dans les montagnes des Pyrénées, en respectant des traditions agricoles et d'élevage.
