Charles Rennie Mackintosh, born in Glasgow in 1868, is one of the greatest designers of the 20th century. A pioneer of Modernism as a designer and architect, he settled in Roussillon as a painter at the end of his life (1923—1927). A space at the Château-Musée de Bélesta retraces Mackintosh's career – first as an architect/designer in Scotland, then as a pioneer of Modernism in Europe and finally, as a painter in Roussillon with a style evolving towards surrealism.
