The name of the village of Palalda appears in history in the 833th century under the term villam Paladdanum in a precept of Louis the Pious dated 967 and delimiting its territory. The etymology of the name comes from the term Palatium Dani (“the palace of Dan”). A castle was thus built on the site as well as a church, mentioned for the first time in 1254, and which will know several successive modifications.
