PRIORY OF SERRABONE

On the borders of Conflent and Aspre, at an altitude of 600 metres, in the heart of a green amphitheatre, the priory reigns over a forest of holm oaks. From 1062, the installation of a community of Augustinian canons led to a major transformation of the primitive church. Its gallery and cloister offer extremely fine Romanesque sculptures. The capitals depicting lions, griffins, eagles, centaurs, sagittarius, deer, etc. reflect through this fantastic bestiary a symbolic reading of Romanesque art and are considered masterpieces of Romanesque art. All around, the paths of the botanical garden invite you to discover the Mediterranean flora.
