The Batère site is an important mining site in the department, it is the mine that has produced the most ore during the history of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Iron was produced there of course, the famous Canigou iron. The mine is located in the territory of Corsavy, on the hillside far north of the village. If you decide one day to take a walk up there, know that you have to start from Corsavy and follow a winding road for 15 km before arriving at the entrance to the mine. Soon after, you arrive at the abandoned buildings. There are still a number of rusty construction machines on site.
