Until the beginning of the 60s, Escaro was one of the high places for the extraction of iron ore from the Canigó massif. A museum today retraces its history. Through a unique collection of tools and everyday objects, it offers you an exciting immersion in what was the hard work of the Conflent miners. At the same time exotic, moving and resolutely instructive!

Possibility of combining the visit with a hike on the remains of the old concessions of Escaro (on reservation for groups from 10 people). Circuit of 3h 30 walk along the paths formerly used by miners. You will notably discover the scars left in the landscape by the fluorite quarry, see rails coming out of nowhere, walk along inclined planes with its abandoned wagons.
