Saint Martin du Canigou Abbey

Built on a rocky outcrop, theBenedictine Abbey of Saint-Martin-du-Canigou was founded in 1009 by Guifred II. Saint-Martin-du-Canigou Abbey is a stopover on the way to Santiago de Compostela.

Access is only on foot in 30 to 50 minutes. As the abbey is inhabited by a religious community, only guided tours are possible (duration 1 hour every hour).

Saint-Michel de Cuxa Abbey

Built in 956, it is the largest pre-Romanesque church preserved in France, a rare monument due to its age. In the twelfth century, the pink marble cloister was built. This work of sculpture is remarkable for its fantastic bestiary, its finely chiselled plant motifs.

Sainte-Marie Abbey of Arles-sur-Tech

Founded in 778, the Sainte-Marie abbey is the oldest Carolingian abbey in Catalonia.

The Romanesque church with three naves houses a large Schmidt organ from the XNUMXth century. The XNUMXth century Gothic cloister is attached to the church. On the forecourt of the church, there is a sarcophagus of the IVᵉ century called holy grave. It inexplicably secretes water since it housed the relics of Saints Abdon and Sennen.
