Much of our hike is covered. The forest and the Haut Vallespir have a long history. It dates back to the Roman era and the ironworks, which were closely linked to wood as fuel. Since then, this activity has always led to variations in the forest's occupancy rate. As early as 1360, reserves called "Garlandas" were demarcated, where it was forbidden to cut down trees.
